Who Jesus Really Is |
To know who Jesus really IS, we must know who He WAS when He came
to this earth nearly 2,000 years ago. Was He God Himself? A
special being created by God? Or was He a mere man with
extraordinary self-control and a highly developed conscience? Was
He an angel? The Messiah? An impostor? Who Jesus WAS is the key to
who He really IS?

The word "LORD" in Psalm 107 is translated from the
Hebrew word "YHWH"
(Yahweh).
This is the personal covenant name of God in the Old Testament. By
stilling the storm, Jesus did something that the Old Testament
described as the power of God Himself. John
6:16-21 contains the
story of Jesus walking on the water. In the book of Job, God is
described as the one who walks on the water. He it is
"which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves
of the sea.
Job 9:8. Actions speak louder than
words. What more powerful evidence could Jesus have given His
disciples that the voice which called them from their fishing nets
was more than the voice of a mere man? Still, they marvelled,
saying, "What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the
sea obey him!"
Matthew 8:27. They had not
yet seen ALL of the power in the voice of Jesus.
9. |
What did the disciples later see result from Jesus'
voice?
John 11:43,44
|
Helps and hints: This was no operating table
resurrection. Lazarus had been dead for four days. Many have
sought to discredit the miracles of Jesus as myths or even frauds.
Many of these are willing to accept Jesus as a good man, but not as
God. And that is the real basis of their disbelief.
10. |
When the other disciples told Thomas that they had seen
Jesus after His resurrection, how did Thomas respond?
John 20:24,25
|
11. |
How did Thomas respond after seeing Jesus with his own
eyes?
John 20:28
|
12. |
What was the apostle John's purpose for writing his
gospel of the life of Jesus Christ?
John 20:30,31
|
Helps and hints: John did not hide his basic
intention. He makes it clear that he wasnts us to believe in Jesus
even as he himself believed in Him, as the Son of the living God.
He did not make up stories to convince us of something he did not
believe to be true. He gave his witness of that which he knew to
be true, that those who accept that witness could also receive
eternal life.
13. |
How did Jesus differ from the Old Testament priests?
Hebrews 7:25
|
Helps and hints: the same Jesus who hung on the
cross at Calvary ministers to our needs from the heavenly sanctuary
today. Jesus came to this earth as the God of this universe
clothed in human flesh. He is no less God today. Who He WAS is
the key to who He IS, as it says in
Hebrews 13:8, ""Jesus Christ the
same yesterday, and today, and forever."
