- 29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
- 39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

- 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
- 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
- 1 Corinthians 15:
- 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
- John 5:
- 28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
- 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
- Acts 24:
- 15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
- Job 19:
- 25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
- 26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
- 27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
- Psalms 17:
- 15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
- D. Will The Saints Be Changed From Mortal To Immortal?
- 1 Corinthians 15:
- 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
- 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
- 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
- Philippians 3:
- 20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
- 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
- 1 John 3:
- 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

- Isaiah 13:
- 6 Howl ye; for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.
- 8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.
- 9 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
- 2 Thessalonians 1:
- 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
- 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
- 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
- Revelation 11:
- 18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
- Jeremiah 25:
- 31 A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations: he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the Lord.
- 32 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
- 33 And the slain of the Lord shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.
- Psalms 68:
- 2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
- Matthew 25:

- Revelation 6:
- 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
- 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
- 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
- F. Does Christs Glory Destroy The Cities?
- Jeremiah 4:
- 24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
- 25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
- 26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the Lord, and by his fierce anger.
- 27 For thus hath the Lord said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
- G. Are The Righteous Living And The Raised Dead Caught Up Together?
- 1 Thessalonians 4:
- 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
- 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
- H. Does Christ Take His People Back To Heaven?
- John 14:
- 2 In my Fathers house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
- 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
- 1 Peter 1:
- 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
- TEXTS OF INTEREST:
- Jeremiah 4:
- 24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
- 25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
- 26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the Lord, and by his fierce anger.
- 27 For thus hath the Lord said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
- NOTE:
- The wicked are destroyed by the brightness of Christs coming and the saints are taken to Heaven to dwell with Christ, leaving the earth desolate. (see sections E and F above)
- I. Is Satan Confined?
- Revelation 20:
- 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
- 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
- TEXTS OF INTEREST:
- 1 Thessalonians 4:
- 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
- Revelation 20:
- 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
- NOTE:
- Notice that at the time of our Lords coming (descent) the dead in Christ are raised. The resurrection obviously happens at the beginning of the thousand-year period because the raised saints reign with Christ during the thousand years. Satan also is confined at the time of Christs coming for he is held captive until this same thousand-year period of Revelation 20 is ended.
