X. Summary

We have seen that Satan is the one who says, “we won’t die,” and he has been working very hard, ever sense the Garden of Eden, to convince as many of us as he can. He has been very successful!
God says we will die, to pay for our sins, unless we accept His death in our place.
We have seen that “the wages of sin is death” and we can pay our debt in full by dying the “second death.”
The Bible says, only God has immortality.
The Bible no where says, we have an immortal soul.
We are naturally inclined to die, and most likely will unless Christ comes before we do.
God formed our bodies from the dust of the earth, and then added His breath of life to make us living souls.
At our death creation is reversed: our bodies go back to dust, and our breath goes back to God who gave it, which makes us dead souls.
On resurrection morning, God will recreate our bodies, add His breath of life, and we will become living souls again.
We have seen that “breath” and “spirit” are used interchangeably in the Bible.
We have also seen that soul is used to mean any living, breathing creature.
It is very important to know exactly what the Bible says about death so we won’t be deceived when Satan tries to communicate a lie to us by masquerading as a dead loved one or Saint.
