- II. Are There Any
Sinners In Hell Today?
- A. Are Sinners
Reserved For The Day Of Judgment?
- 2 Peter 2:
- 9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the
godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day
of judgment to be punished:
- Job 21:
- 29 Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and
do ye not know their tokens,
- 30 That the wicked is reserved to the day of
destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of
wrath.
- 2 Peter 3:
- 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are
now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire
against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
- Revelation 20:
- 5 But the rest of the dead lived not
again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first
resurrection.
- 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and
death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them:
and they were judged every man according to their works.
- TEXT OF INTEREST
- Genesis 2:
- 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and
evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest
thereof thou shalt surely die.
- NOTE:
- Margin reads Dying thou shalt die.
This is more accurate because as the record of Adam and Eve shows they
didnt die instantly, rather, when they sinned the process of
dying began.
- If wicked man in any shape or form lives in hell fire, is this
death? God said, thou shalt surely die.
- Death is what reserves the wicked until the Day of
Judgment.
- John 5:
- 28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is
coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his
voice,
- 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the
resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the
resurrection of damnation.
- Jude 1:
- 6 And the angels which kept not their first
estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in
everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great
day.
- 2 Peter 2:
- 4 For if God spared not the angels that
sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into
chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
- Acts 17:
- 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in
the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom
he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that
he hath raised him from the dead.
- Psalms 37:
- 38 But the transgressors shall be
destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut
off.
- Isaiah 1:
- 28 And the destruction of the
transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they
that forsake the Lord shall be consumed.
- NOTE:
- The last two texts indicate that the wicked are
reserved and then destroyed together.
- B. When Is Judgment
Pronounced On The Sinners?
- Matthew 25:
- 31 When the Son of man shall come in
his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon
the throne of his glory:
- 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall
separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep
from the goats:
- 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand,
Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil
and his angels:
- 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but
the righteous into life eternal.
- 2 Timothy 4:
- 1 I charge thee therefore before God, and
the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead
at his appearing and his kingdom;
- John 12:
- 48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my
words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken,
the same shall judge him in the last day.
- Matthew 16:
- 27 For the Son of man shall come in
the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward
every man according to his works.
- Revelation 22:
- 12 And, behold, I come quickly;
and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work
shall be.
- Matthew 13:
- 39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil;
the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are
the angels.
- 40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in
the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
- NOTE:
- When Christ comes He brings His reward with Him to
give to every man according to his works or deeds.
- It is at His coming, at the end of the world, that judgment is
pronounced: everlasting punishment (eternal death) for the sinners and
life (eternal life) for the righteous.
