Lizards are fun reptiles to watch. Unlike snakes that sleep a lot and only feed once a week or two, lizards are actively seeking food most of the day. Anoles are very active. They bob their heads, showing off their red and yellow handkerchiefs (dulap) under the male's neck. They stake out their territories and show off for their mates and search for insects during daylight hours. Chameleons, on the other hand, from Africa, Madagascar, and Southeast Asia are very slow and have to use Camouflage to get close to their food, and also hide from their enemies. Chameleons are almost unlimited with their colors and patterns to help blend into leaves and stems where they use their long sticky tongues to dart an unsuspecting insect. On one of our recent visits to the Atlantic coast of Florida we met a new friend at our motel on the beach, by the name of Emily, who was catching Anoles and keeping them for a day or two in her critter keeper. We watched them change colors and eat, then she turned them loose probably to catch them again the next day. Both Lizards can change colors but only one is the true Chameleon. I'm so glad God our Creator didn't make us to change colors to show our moods or attitudes or there would be some very strange looking people. We show openly we love others by our kind deeds and words. Isn't our God awesome? How can you say "thank you" to God?
