What is Youth Mission Trip 2008? It’s a mission trip to Belize, in Central America for the youth of the McDonald Road S.D.A. church. Where will it be? We will be traveling by plane to from Atlanta, GA to Belize City and then by private bus to the city of San Ignacio. We will be staying at La Loma Luz Adventist Hospital and working at Eden Primary School which is within walking distance. We will also spend either a day or possibly a weekend in San Pedro, a town on Ambergris Key in the gulf. What will we be doing? We will be doing a construction project and a VBS-style program. We will be building a home for a teacher who will provide security for the Eden Primary School. In the evenings we will join forces with the youth of the St Elena Central Church to reach the children of San Antonio. Our goal will be to help the local Adventists establish a presence in this community. Ultimately, we would love to someday return and build a church there! When we go to San Pedro, we hope to be able to help with another mission group’s evangelistic meetings. Who can go? Currently (November 8, 2007) we have five slots that have come available. We are accepting anyone in our local community (Chattanooga, TN) who would like to go. Children who are in Grades 1-8 must be accompanied by a parent. No children younger than first grade may come. What about money? Each member must raise $1200 in order to go. A $100 deposit is required by December 1 for members and staff. What dates will we be gone? February 29 - March 10, 2008. How can I sign up? Just download an application from this website, fill it out and turn it in. During the week, applications may be turned in to Pastor David Cook’s office at the church. You can turn in your deposit at that time or wait till the December 1 deadline. Will I need a passport/Visa? Yes! Read the Guidelines carefully, and also look at the Passports links. Both are available in the Downloads page. What do I need to take/pack? Please download the Trip Guidelines form from our Downloads page.
