Higher Thoughts

“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth” (Colossians 3:1-2, NLT).

I often need a reminder that the things of heaven are more real than the things of this earth. Each day, we get wrapped up in deadlines, appointments, and the stresses of this life. In all of our rushing around, we forget that we are not staying on this Earth much longer.

I think about a lot of different things throughout the day, and too many of my thoughts revolve around questioning something I said, deliberating about something I should have done differently, or wondering what someone meant by a comment or action. I need to remember to put my thoughts on “the things of heaven, not the things of earth.”

So today, as you hurry from appointment to appointment, remember that the war is won. Christ is in heaven interceding on our behalf, so draw close to God today.

“Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf” (Hebrews 7:25, NLT).
