Using Your Talents for Others

Story & Photos by Janice Parker

The ladies of McDonald Road Church under the leadership of Arlene Lewis, used their God-given talents to make hats, mittens, scarves, and scrubbies for their sisters and brothers of the East Lake Courts, so they could stay warm during the winter months.

On Wednesday, January 22, 2020, several boxes of these made-with-love items were given out to the people. It was a very cold day. When the people saw the beautiful hats, mittens, and scarves, their faces were full of smiles. Many of them put the items on as soon as they received them. Others were so amazed at all of the choices that they wanted help choosing which ones to get. They also loved the scrubbies to use for dish washing that Arlene made.

These people were so grateful that someone was willing to take the time to make such beautiful items for them. They asked us to tell the ladies of the church “thank you” and share how much they appreciated the love and care that was shown to them. They aren’t used to having people show them love. It made their day special.

God has given each one of us talents. Ask God to show you how to use your talents for others.
