Church Renovation

Updating our Church to Uplift Jesus

At McDonald Road Seventh-day Adventist Church, it has long been our aim to Uplift Jesus, and now the time has come for us to update our church facility so we can continue to work toward that mission.

Thank you for supporting this project so we have been able to reach our goal! The estimated cost of the project is approximately $1,100,000 and that goal has been reached.

Windows and Platform Updates

As you can see from the pictures below, our new windows are installed-and what a difference they are already making in the lighting! The rockwork in the platform area started Friday. The new heat and air conditioning units are here, and as soon as the duct work is finished, they will be installed as well. Things are moving along nicely and according to the contract timetable. The Lord is certainly blessing! Please continue to pray for and support this initiative. -Pastor Fred R. Fuller

Insulation, Drywall, and Ductwork

Amazing progress has happened these last few days! Sprayed insulation is in place on two wings, and ductwork is following right behind. Most of the drywall is finished with tape and bedding. Windows will be coming soon, along with the stonework. Things are moving along according to plan. Please continue to be generous in support of this project, because as with all projects, there have been some surprises along the way!

Church Board Approves Builders

The Church Board approved the contract with Tyson Builders to remodel our church. Work is to begin on June 20. It is hoped that the project will be completed by November. We will be having worship services in the gym beginning the latter part of July. The estimated cost of the project will be approximately $1,100,000.  Church members are being invited to raise $100,000 in that the rest of the money is on hand thanks to the blessing of the Lord and the generosity of each of our families. There has been tremendous support from the MRC members, special donors, and the Georgia-Cumberland Conference. We continue our fund-raising campaign to cover cost overruns as needed. Thank you for your continued generosity. We praise Our Father in heaven for His Blessings!

Contractor Walk Thru

Two General Contractors did a walk thru our church this week with a view towards submitting sealed bids by May 18. One contractor said he would be able to do the project in 90 days, so our target date to move to the Gym for worship services may be coming up sooner than we think. If anyone knows of anyone who would be interested in purchasing all of our old pews (not for sale individually), contact Charles Griffin for more information.

Length of Project

Last Sabbath it was announced that it was going to take approximately three months for us to get our permit approved for our building project, but praise the Lord for through His providential leading! The plans have already been approved, in fact they were approved last Sabbath and we didn’t even know it. Plans have been submitted to two General Contractors for their review and the bidding process.

Plans Approved

Reviewing Building Plans

Several committees have been going over important details of our project. Design & Decor has brought forth recommendations on colors, floor covering, etc. An acoustical professional has evaluated our sanctuary and is rendering their input for enhancing the quality of our sound. On Thursday, an engineering firm met with a small group to finish off some details of completing the plan. It is hoped by next week we will be able to submit this to the State for approval and be able to release plans for bids from contractors. –Charles J. Griffin
